Based on the directives of the Ministry of higher education and scientific research and under the direct guidance of the presidency of the University of Baghdad, the college of law holds a workshop under the direct supervision of the dean of the college of Law, Prof. Dr. Ali Hadi Attieh, and in cooperation with the Higher Institute for security and Administrative Development at the Ministry of Interior entitled (new crimes and their impact on society (drugs and electronic extortion), the session was chaired by the head of the private law (Dr. Amer Ghanem Alwan), delivered by the Colonel Ali Abdul Zahra Farman-director of the genetic fingerprint division, Forensic Sciences and laboratories Department, Colonel Adel Yassin Taher-director of evidence processing division, Forensic Sciences and laboratories Department, and Captain Haider Samir Hatem – Department of Information Technology.
The workshop aims to raise awareness among students and young people about the crimes that have been introduced in our society and to strengthen trust between students and the security services in reporting these crimes .
The workshop included several topics, including introducing the new crimes, their images and methods of committing them, raising awareness of the types of drugs and their risks to the individual and society and crimes associated with drug crime, raising awareness of the crime of electronic extortion and ways to prevent it.
The workshop came up with several recommendations, the most important of which is the continuous urge in education to avoid involvement in the experience of drug use or dealing with all its types as stimulants or inhibitors, spreading a culture of fighting the scourge of drugs, reporting traffickers and promoters, and dealing with digital media and social networking sites with high awareness.
Fortifying personal accounts with a complex secret code to avoid falling into electronic extortion traps and reporting in a confidential manner preserves the identity of the victim or the whistleblower of drug crimes and electronic extortion.
