The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Law at the University of Baghdad held a workshop entitled (The Basis of Imposing a Fee) which was delivered by a lecturer in the Public Law Branch (Professor Ban Salah Abdel-Qader) and in the presence of a number of faculty, staff and students of the college on Tuesday 11/4/2023 at Conference hall in the college.

The workshop aims to define what is meant by the fee and to know whether it is determined by one type or different types to demonstrate the impact of the purpose of imposing it on its price through the authority that has the right to impose the fee and the grounds that enable it to do so, and to clarify the implications of the different bases for imposing fees.

The symposium included several axes, including defining the fee, distinguishing between tax and fee, the competent authority for imposing the fee, the bases for imposing the fee and the implications of defining the bases.

The workshop came out with several recommendations, including taking into account the basic purposes of imposing fees so that their imposition is not random, taking into account the living burdens and the economic level when determining the price of fees, and restricting legal, economic and social limits and controls when determining the fee.
