Sustainable Development and its Social, Economic, and Environmental Dimensions
Sustainable development is an international socio-economic term, with which the United Nations body has drawn a map of environmental, social and economic development globally, its first goal is to improve the living conditions of each member of society, develop the means and methods of production, and manage them in ways that do not lead to depletion of the planet’s natural resources, so as not to overload the planet, and not deprive future generations of these resources, (meeting the needs of the current generation without wasting the rights of future generations), and without overuse of the remaining natural resources on our planet.
Many of the natural resources that we harness in the service of comprehensive development in our country are constantly decreasing sources, they are (non-renewable), especially sources of energy, water and raw materials, the world’s consumption of which has been steadily doubling since the industrial revolution, while the prevailing misconception has remained that the Earth is an inexhaustible source of wealth and a resource of unlimited energy.

Green Spaces in the College of Law

Green Spaces in the College of Law

The College of Law / University of Baghdad has given special attention to green spaces and gardens because of the great importance of these spaces in our lives, whether in the short or long term. This waste represents the lung that purifies this polluted air. Plants consume a large amount of carbon dioxide gas that is harmful to humans and produce pure oxygen necessary for the continuity of life, in addition to the presence of green spaces that contribute effectively to improving the climate and reducing the phenomenon of desertification and the spread of dust and soil throughout the year as a result of the lack of Vegetation, and we should not forget that gardens with their plants and flowers have a great impact on providing psychological comfort, a sense of nature, and enjoying the beauty that the Creator created, which reduces the feeling of psychological stress for the student and sends him energy, hope, and renewal.

There is a group of gardens spread in our college with different microclimates, representing approximately 11% of the total college area, and there is a variety of plants in it, including evergreen trees, shrubs, palms, grass, and seasonal and permanent flowers. There are also places for students to sit to enjoy these gardens.
