The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Law / University of Baghdad held a scientific seminar on Monday, 15/6/2026, titled “International Legal Mechanisms for Protecting Women against Cyber Violence”, delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nibras Ibrahim Muslim and Lect. Zeina Rajab, at the college’s Model Court Hall.

The seminar aimed to raise awareness of the concept of cyber violence and its emerging forms, strengthen women’s legal empowerment by introducing national and international legal frameworks, and develop the technical skills needed for digital protection. It also focused on educating participants about mechanisms for preserving and documenting electronic evidence, contributing to ensuring the prosecution of perpetrators and achieving digital justice, thereby promoting a safer and more stable online environment for women.

The seminar also examined the digital space and the impact of cybercrime on women, discussing the characteristics of cybercrime, including ease of anonymity, rapid spread, and its non-contact nature. It further reviewed its most prominent traditional and modern forms, such as online blackmail, harassment, defamation, deepfakes, and cyberstalking.
