The College of Law at the University of Baghdad discussed a master’s thesis in the private law branch of the student Alaa Ahmed Abbas, tagged with (Legal regulation of the market maker in the stock markets – a comparative study) and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Haifa Mazhar Falhi, on Wednesday 4/5/2023 in the conference hall in the college.

This thesis aims to explain the legal regulation of the stock market maker, so the need for market-making companies appears, as the companies focus on specific stock speculations, which leads to an increase in the share prices of some companies listed in the market because of the speculations and the accompanying rumors that are not based on real justifications.

The thesis also included four chapters, the first of which dealt with the concept of the stock market maker, the second chapter dealt with the fluctuations and crises of the stock market and its role in activating the market maker models, while the third chapter dealt with the work of the market maker, and the fourth and final chapter included the obligations and rights of the stock market maker.

The most important recommendations reached by the study on the Iraqi legislator issuing laws and decisions to regulate the mechanisms of the activity of the stock market maker, similar to the rest of the comparative laws, because of its great importance, which reflects positively on the Iraqi stock market and keeps pace with developments in the Arab and international stock markets, regulating the activity of the market maker To stipulate that the manufacturer (a legal person) is represented by a joint stock company, due to the high financial and administrative organization of these companies, the introduction of the competing market maker system in order to allow more than one company to compete with each other to provide the best services to companies or investors in the market.
