The College of Law at University of Baghdad discussed a master\u2019s thesis titled \u201cThe Legal Regulation of Protecting Workers from Heat Stress in the Workplace \u2013 A Comparative Study\u201d, submitted by the student Huda Taher Nasser, in the Public Law Department, on Thursday, 18\/6\/2026, in the college\u2019s virtual court hall.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The examination committee consisted of the following professors:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Prof. Dr. Musaddaq Adel Talib (Chairman)<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Zaki Yahya (Member)<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. Prof. Dr. Wissam Jabbar Qasim (Member)<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. Prof. Dr. Saba Nuaiman Rashid (Member and Supervisor)<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The thesis aimed to analyze and clarify the legal rules for protecting workers from the risks of heat stress, which can lead to serious injuries and occupational diseases affecting a worker\u2019s ability to perform their job, especially in light of rising temperatures. It also evaluated the adequacy of general occupational health and safety rules in addressing this risk.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    The thesis consisted of two chapters: the first addressed the legal framework for protecting workers from thesis aimed to analyze and clarify the legal rules for protecting workers from the risks of heat stress, which can lead to serious injuries and occupational diseases while the second covered preventive and remedial rules for workers exposed to heat stress.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    The study concluded with several recommendations, most notably:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. It proposes that the Iraqi legislator establish a specific legal framework for the risk of heat stress in the workplace, including identifying the occupations covered by such protection and the conditions that cause it.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
    2. It recommends strengthening the role of labor inspection bodies and occupational health and safety committees within establishments, and activating regular oversight.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
    3. \n

      It suggests that the Iraqi legislator introduce specific legal provisions for the construction sector, as it is one of the most vulnerable sectors to heat stress risks.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
