The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Law, University of Baghdad, organized a seminar entitled \u201cThe Legal and Commercial Dimensions of the Phenomenon of Irregular Migration\u201d, delivered by Assistant Lecturer Masouma Hamed Abdulrahman from the Department of Private Law, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the College of Law building.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The seminar aimed to highlight the most significant social, economic, legal, and security impacts of this phenomenon. In recent years, irregular migration has increased in Iraq due to both internal and external factors, making it necessary to examine its various dimensions, particularly the legal and commercial aspects.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The seminar explained that among the negative effects of irregular migration are the loss of Iraqi talents who migrate unlawfully, the rise in money laundering resulting from the huge profits of smuggling, and the increased demand for forgery and illegal services related to travel.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The seminar concluded with several recommendations, most notably:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The necessity of issuing a specific law addressing irregular migration.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Establishing special units to investigate human trafficking crimes.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. Cooperation with neighboring countries to control borders.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. \n

    Adopting economic strategies to reduce unemployment and prevent the motives for migration.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
