The College of Law \u2013 University of Baghdad examined a master\u2019s thesis titled \u201cThe Right to Access Environmental Information within the Framework of International Law\u201d<\/em> by Siham Mazen Sabah in the International Law on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the college\u2019s conference hall.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The examination committee consisted of:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Prof. Dr. Hadi Naeem Al-Maliki, Chairman<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Prof. Dr. Basheer Jomaa Abdul-Jabbar, Member<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nebras Ibrahim Muslim, Member<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Khalil Jaafar, Member and Supervisor<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The thesis aimed to show that the right to access environmental information is no longer limited to the regional Aarhus Convention but has become a universal right and is considered part of human rights.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    The thesis was divided into three chapters:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Chapter One: The conceptual framework of the right to access environmental information.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
    2. Chapter Two: The normative level of the right to environmental information.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
    3. Chapter Three: The right to access environmental information in national legislation.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      The thesis concluded with several recommendations, the most important being:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. The establishment of a specialized environmental court to handle environmental cases at both national and international levels.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
      2. \n

        Enhancing environmental education and awareness among the public, particularly regarding access to environmental information through educational curricula, to promote living in a healthy environment.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
