The College of Law at the University of Baghdad discussed a master’s thesis in the international law branch of student Mahdi Kazem Mutair, tagged (International Protection of the Human Genome), on Monday, 20\/2\/2023, in the model courtroom in the college.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This thesis aims at the importance of the human genome as a common heritage of humanity, and the need to conclude a traditional international agreement at the global level that addresses the issue of bioethics and provides protection for the human genome and human rights and basic freedoms from all scientific practices and serious violations, especially from negative applications of genetic engineering and from all interventions, research and experiments. related to human geology.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The thesis also included three chapters, the first of which dealt with the concept of the human genome and its importance to humanity as a common heritage. The second chapter dealt with the legal system of the human genome. The third chapter dealt with the threats of the human genome and ways to confront them.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The most important recommendations reached by the study are the call for the conclusion of global and regional international agreements directly related to the protection of the human genome, the need to determine the nature of the human genetic material, whether it is from things, from people, or otherwise, in a unified and explicit manner, as its identification has a direct impact on determining the type of protection required For the human genome at the international level, the need to establish a global international organization specifically concerned with bioethics with the aim of developing the legal system for the human genome.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
