The College of Law\u2014University of Baghdad discussed a master\u2019s thesis entitled \u201cArbitration by Artificial Intelligence in Blockchain Transactions\u201d by the student Hanin Amer Khamis, in the Private Law Department, on Sunday, August 3, 2025, in the College Conference Hall.<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The discussion committee consisted of:<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
1. Prof. Dr. Abdul-Mahdi Kadim Nasser (Chairman)<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
2. Prof. Dr. Ali Matshar Abdul-Sahib (Member)<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
3. Asst. Prof. Dr. Amer Ghanem Alwan (Member)<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
4 .P rof. Dr. Jaleel Hassan Beshat Al-Saadi (Member and Supervisor)<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The thesis aimed to shed light on the legal foundations of arbitration conducted by artificial intelligence in blockchain transactions, to assess the acceptability of this type of arbitration under traditional legal rules, and to evaluate the adequacy of current regulatory frameworks in addressing the challenges posed by the decentralized technical nature of these transactions. This is particularly significant given the growing reliance on smart contracts and DAO platforms in digital environments.<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The thesis was divided into three chapters: the first clarified the concept of AI arbitration in blockchain transactions; the second outlined the procedures for AI arbitration, and the third examined decentralized platforms for AI arbitration.<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The thesis concluded with several recommendations, the most notable of which are:<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
1. Establishing unified model rules for AI arbitration by international arbitration bodies or specialized organizations, regulating AI arbitration procedures and ensuring neutrality and fairness in decision-making.<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
2. Enhancing collaboration between legislators and legal programmers to develop arbitration algorithms that consider legal and ethical principles while minimizing risks of error or bias.<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
3. Introducing a legal provision that recognizes the decisions of decentralized AI arbitration platforms, provided that they meet the fundamental guarantees of a fair trial, in line with the principle of openness to alternative dispute resolution methods<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
