The defence took place on Monday, May 19, 2025, in the college\u2019s conference hall.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">The examination committee consisted of the following members:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Prof. Dr. Hadi Naim Al-Maliki (Chairman)<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Prof. Dr. Hussam Abdul Amir Khalaf (Member)<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Prof. Dr. Hussam Hamid Shihab (Member)<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Asst. Prof. Dr. Lama Abdul Baqi Mahmoud (Member)<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Khalil Jaafar (Member and Supervisor)<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">The dissertation aimed to shed light on the importance of interpretation as a legal process intended to clarify international legal texts and address any ambiguity or deficiencies they may contain. This contributes to the development of international legal norms and aligns them with the rapidly evolving dynamics of international relations.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">The dissertation was divided into two chapters:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">The first chapter dealt with the conceptual framework of interpreting international legal norms.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">The second chapter addressed the principles governing the interpretation of such norms.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">The dissertation concluded with several key recommendations, the most important of which include:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Encouraging judicial dialogue among national courts to develop advanced rulings on issues related to international law.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Calling on international courts to apply newly established interpretative rules, including the <em>principle of contradiction<\/em> in the interpretation of international treaties, to help protect the rights of the weaker party and uphold the principles of justice and equity.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]<div id=\"cz3514\" class=\"cz3514 slick arrows_mlr no_dots\"
