The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Law \u2013 University of Baghdad organized a workshop titled “The Regulations Governing Activities Aboard the International Space Station” on Sunday, March 9, 2025, in the Innovation Hall at the college. The workshop was presented by the instructor, lect. Mohammed Ismail Jumaa.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to review the key international agreements that govern activities aboard the International Space Station, as well as the role of international organizations in resolving disputes arising from the exploitation of outer space.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The workshop covered several topics, including:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

1\ufe0f\u20e3 Introduction to the legal concepts related to space activities.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

2\ufe0f\u20e3 Clarification of the responsibilities and obligations of states and organizations in outer space.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

3\ufe0f\u20e3 Mechanisms for resolving disputes that may arise from the use of the International Space Station.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

4\ufe0f\u20e3 Challenges in regulating space activities.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The workshop concluded with several recommendations, the most important of which were:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2705 Enhancing international cooperation among countries active in the space field.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2705 Working on updating the legal regulations related to outer space, either by amending existing laws or formulating new ones.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2705 Protecting the space environment to ensure the sustainable and responsible exploitation of space.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This workshop was part of the Continuing Education Unit’s efforts at the College of Law \u2013 University of Baghdad to enhance legal knowledge regarding space activities and to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the international legislation that governs the exploitation of outer space.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
