Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Law (Professor Dr. Ali Hadi Atiyah) and the supervision of the Vice Dean for Scientific Affairs (Professor Dr. Jalil Hassan Bashat Al-Saadi), the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Law, University of Baghdad, held a workshop titled “The Mechanism for Granting Appreciation to Employees under Iraqi Law.” The lecture was delivered by the faculty member in the Public Law, Assistant Lecturer Hiba Mansour, on Wednesday, January 15, 2024, in the college\u2019s model courtroom.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to highlight the positive outcomes for employees resulting from the appreciation granted to them, exploring whether these outcomes are purely moral or also include material benefits.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The workshop addressed several key topics, including:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The definition and types of appreciation letters.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. The authorities responsible for granting appreciation to employees under the State Employees Disciplinary Law No. (14) of 1991, as amended.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. The legal impact of granting appreciation.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The workshop resulted in a set of recommendations, including:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Encouraging the extension of the legal effects of an appreciation letter granted by one ministry to include the material benefits typically associated with appreciation letters, in order to promote greater cooperation between ministries.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
    2. Authorities responsible for granting appreciation letters should consider objective reasons for doing so and avoid focusing on narrow or partisan interests.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
