In appreciation of the role of the Iraqi constitutional judiciary in various fields and believing in the role of scientific research in supporting this role, the college of law at the University of Baghdad\/ Public Law established the first Iraqi constitutional judiciary forum, under the auspices of the president of the University of Baghdad, professor Dr. Baha Ibrahim ansaf, and under the supervision of the dean of the college of law, professor (Dr. Ali Hadi al-Hilali), and in cooperation with the Federal Supreme Court; on Thursday, 25\/4\/2025 on the conference hall at the college.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The forum brings together the judges of the court with academics, post-graduate students and legal experts for the purpose of presenting points of view and finding common spaces to support the experience of the Iraqi constitutional judiciary, where the president of the Federal Court, Judge (Jassim Mohammed Abboud), the president of the University of Baghdad, professor Dr. (Baha Ibrahim ansaf), a number of judges of the Federal Supreme Court, and a selection of specialists in the legal and Constitutional Affairs participated.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The forum included a number of themes, the most important of which are: the role of the decisions of the Federal Supreme Court in achieving a balance between the constitutional text and political reality, addressing the decisions of the federal court for legislative omission, the concept of the supreme interest and the controls for determining the fairness of the Federal Supreme Court, as well as the mechanisms for implementing the decisions of the Federal Supreme Court in the face of public authorities.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The interventions of professors, judges and specialists contributed to the forum’s themes, and the participants showed a positive interaction that effectively enriched all the forum’s themes.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The forum came up with a number of recommendations, the most important of which is the need to determine the holding of the forum on fixed dates and the creation of a joint electronic link between the college and the court for the purpose of publishing interventions and comments on the forum and discussing the court’s decisions and their impact on the legal and political levels.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

At the end of the forum, the president of the Federal Supreme Court presented letters of thanks and appreciation to the dean of the college of law at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Ali Hadi Attiya, and all participants, appreciating their role and efforts in the success of the activities of this forum, which is a positive and advanced step in the legal field.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
