The college of law at the University of Baghdad discussed a master’s thesis in the international law of the student (Sara Ayad Ismail), entitled with (Turkish military interventions in northern Iraq within the framework of international law), on Thursday, 2024\/01\/08 on the model courtroom at the college.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The thesis aims to explain the foundations and mechanisms of intervention based on the norms of international law and how it undermines the traditional concept of sovereignty by expanding international jurisdiction at the expense of the internal jurisdiction of the state and in what circumstances international organizations have a role in serving the interests of states and standing by them by prohibiting interference in internal affairs .<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The thesis included three chapters, the first chapter dealt with the general framework of the International intervention, the second chapter dealt with the Turkish military interventions in northern Iraq and their support, while the third chapter dealt with the Turkish violations of the rules of general international law and international humanitarian law and the resulting international responsibility.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The thesis came out with several recommendations, the most important of which is the hope of the Ministry of foreign affairs to make greater efforts to present the Turkish military interventions in northern Iraq to the UN Security Council because of the explicit aggression that these interventions pose that threatens the security and integrity of the Iraqi territory, calling on the Iraqi government not to be content with media condemnations but to take initiatives to present these interventions in more than one forum .<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
