The college of Law at the University of Baghdad discussed the Master’s thesis of the International Law of the student (Ala Ali Khudair), entitled with “Hybrid War in International Humanitarian Law”, on Thursday 2023\/12\/28 at the Conference Room of the college.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The thesis aims to reveal what hybrid wars exist and analyze their circumstances in order to identify causes and effects through modern applications presented in the study in question, while trying to provide an effective picture of the mechanisms of international humanitarian law in containing hybrid wars and determine their relevance and priority in accelerating solutions by assessing attitudes and conflicts that amount to armed conflict.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The thesis included three chapters, the first of which dealt with the conceptual framework of hybrid wars and the second with the extent to which hybrid wars were subject to international humanitarian law and its applications. Chapter three dealt with the fight against hybrid wars and the responsibility involved.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The thesis came out with several recommendations, the most important is about urged the international community to endeavour to amend the Charter of the United Nations and in line with the great development in the concept and methods of war and force used in war to adapt the Hague Agreements on Ground Warfare Rules and the Geneva Conventions governing Means of War 1949 to make them better able to apply the means used in hybrid warfare in terms of means and criminalization of war.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
