As part of its efforts to strengthen the practical aspects of legal education and develop the academic and practical skills of its students, the College of Law at the University of Baghdad organized a scientific workshop on Tuesday morning, July 28, 2026, in the Virtual Court Hall. The workshop was presented by retired Judge Suad Abdul Wahab Al-Dabbagh, the first female judge in Iraq, with the participation of attorney Hazem Al-Rudaini, and was attended by a distinguished group of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The workshop addressed a range of legal topics of a practical nature, drawing on the judicial and professional expertise of the speakers. Judge Al-Dabbagh reviewed key stages of her pioneering judicial career and shared experiences and insights that enriched the students’ practical understanding. Attorney Hazem Al-Rudaini, meanwhile, presented legal and professional perspectives on the realities and mechanisms of legal practice, adding further academic and practical value to the workshop.
The workshop witnessed notable interaction from the attendees through contributions, questions, and academic discussions in an atmosphere that reflected the College’s commitment to fostering a culture of legal dialogue and strengthening the integration of theoretical study with practical application. This contributes to preparing students who possess legal knowledge and the ability to apply it effectively in professional practice.
The workshop forms part of the academic and training program adopted by the College of Law at the University of Baghdad in fulfillment of its mission to prepare academically and professionally qualified legal professionals. This is achieved by engaging with distinguished judicial and professional expertise and hosting prominent figures who have contributed to shaping the history of the Iraqi judiciary. This approach reflects the College’s pioneering position as Iraq’s oldest academic institution specializing in legal education and as a fundamental source for preparing generations of legal professionals who have contributed, and continue to contribute, to upholding justice and the rule of law.
