The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Law – University of Baghdad organized an educational and awareness-raising workshop titled: “Rights and Duties of University Students in Light of Disciplinary Instructions”, delivered by Asst. Lecturer Sahar Fouad Majid on Tuesday, 20 January 2026, in the Model Court Hall of the College.
The workshop aimed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the student disciplinary instructions applicable in institutions under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. It sought to enhance students’ awareness of their rights and obligations while reinforcing a culture of adherence to university rules and regulations.
Workshop Themes
The workshop covered several key topics:
1.Duties of Students within the Educational Institution – outlining the behavioral and academic responsibilities expected from students.
2.Academic and Behavioral Commitments – highlighting ethical standards, attendance, classroom conduct, and academic integrity.
3.Disciplinary Sanctions and Their Implementation – explaining the procedures for imposing penalties according to the current regulations.
Recommendations
The workshop concluded with several recommendations:
•Conducting regular awareness workshops for new students to familiarize them with their rights and duties within the university.
•Developing effective communication mechanisms between students and the college administration to resolve issues constructively.
•Emphasizing the role of academic integrity in promoting discipline, responsibility, and rigorous scientific research.
This workshop is part of the series of scientific and awareness-raising activities organized by the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Law, aimed at supporting the educational process and fostering a university environment grounded in legal awareness and academic responsibility.
