The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Law, University of Baghdad, held a scientific workshop on Tuesday, 24/2/2026, in the Model Court Hall of the college, entitled “Artificial Intelligence and Its Applications in Law.” The workshop was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Alaa Mohammed Basil.
The workshop aimed to develop an understanding of the fundamental concepts of legal artificial intelligence, identify its practical applications in legal practice, and analyze the legal and ethical challenges through evaluating the global market and future trends, in addition to discussing relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks.
The workshop included several topics, namely:
1.A conceptual introduction to legal artificial intelligence and its core technologies.
2.Practical applications in legal research, contract review, and predictive analysis.
3.Legal and ethical challenges associated with the use of intelligent systems.
At the conclusion of the workshop, a number of recommendations were presented, the most prominent of which were:
1.Enhancing continuous training to develop the technical competence of legal practitioners.
2.Adopting the principle of human supervision over all artificial intelligence outputs.
3.Selecting reliable legal tools based on accurate and up-to-date data sources.
4.Establishing clear institutional policies to regulate the use of smart technologies.
5.Ensuring professional transparency in informing clients about the use of artificial intelligence.
6.Starting with low-risk applications and gradually expanding based on periodic evaluation.
