The College of Law at the University of Baghdad received the French Cultural Attaché as part of efforts to enhance academic, cultural, and linguistic cooperation between the Iraqi and French sides, in a manner that supports the educational and research mission of university institutions.
The visit was attended by the French Cultural Attaché, Mr. Marc Alexandre Chrioues, and the representative of Campus France in Iraq, Mr. Nael Mohammed Hamed Al-Abbas. During the meeting, discussions focused on ways to develop joint academic cooperation, support the teaching of the French language in university institutions, and open new horizons for scientific and cultural exchange between the two countries.
The visit included a tour of the college library, where the guest delegation reviewed the available French books and academic resources. They emphasized the importance of strengthening foreign-language academic content and its role in supporting scientific research and enhancing academic standards.
The delegation also toured the college museum and explored its exhibits documenting the academic and historical journey of the College of Law. The visit concluded with a group photo at the college monument.
Both sides underscored the importance of supporting French language instruction in the special French-language section of the College of Law – University of Baghdad, and of creating motivational incentives to increase student enrollment. This would be achieved by developing students’ language skills at the French Cultural Institute in Baghdad, in addition to providing scholarships and post-grgraduation study opportunities, thereby preparing graduates for the labor market and keeping pace with its evolving demands.
