The Qualification and Employment Unit at the College of Law – University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled “Basics of Microsoft Office” on Tuesday, 25 November 2025. The workshop was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Rusul Hussein Hassan, from the Department of Public Law, and targeted undergraduate students with the aim of enhancing their technical skills in using modern computer applications.

The workshop aimed to introduce students to the fundamental skills required to use Microsoft Office applications—particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint—as essential tools for preparing reports, documents, presentations, and managing data. It also emphasized the importance of digital skills in academic and legal work environments, given their vital role in improving performance efficiency and the overall quality of work.

The workshop included practical explanations on creating professionally formatted documents, using tables and basic formulas in Excel, and preparing effective presentation slides in PowerPoint. It also demonstrated how to integrate these applications into students’ daily academic tasks, thereby contributing to the development of their technical and research skills.

At the conclusion of the workshop, several recommendations were issued, most notably:

1.Paying greater attention to developing students’ digital skills in line with labor market requirements.

2.Encouraging students to use Microsoft Office tools in writing and formatting research papers according to proper academic standards.

3.Motivating students to participate in advanced online courses to deepen their technical knowledge.

4.Utilizing the available Office features to prepare projects and presentations that enhance the quality of academic achievement.

This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities that the College of Law – University of Baghdad is keen to organize, with the aim of empowering students, developing their technical and cognitive skills, and enhancing their readiness to engage in the modern legal work environment.
