The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Law – University of Baghdad organized an awareness seminar entitled “Negative Phenomena in the University Environment and Student Behavior: Promoting a Culture of Discipline and Academic Responsibility.” The seminar was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Masouma Hamed Abdulrahman, from the Department of Private Law, on 19/11/2025, at the College building.

The seminar aimed to identify the most prominent negative phenomena that may appear within the university environment and their impact on the educational setting, in addition to promoting a culture of commitment, discipline, and academic responsibility among students in accordance with Iraqi legislation. It also addressed raising students’ legal awareness regarding their rights and duties within the university campus.

The seminar included an explanation of the most important provisions of the Student Disciplinary Instructions No. 160 of 2007 and the penalties stipulated therein, emphasizing that the purpose of applying these instructions is to protect and develop the university environment rather than punishment for its own sake.

The seminar concluded by stressing that promoting discipline and academic responsibility requires joint cooperation among students, faculty members, and college administration, and that the ethical and behavioral development of students constitutes a fundamental pillar complementing their academic development.
