Under the patronage of the President of the University of Baghdad, the activities of the Sixth International and Eighteenth Annual Media Conference commenced today, 19 November 2025. The conference was organized by the College of Media – University of Baghdad, in partnership with the College of Law – University of Baghdad, under the theme: “Media Between Legislation and Professional Ethics.”

The conference witnessed a distinguished presence of the College of Law, which contributed effectively to both the scientific and preparatory committees, in addition to managing research sessions. This participation added an important legal dimension to the conference and enabled in-depth discussion of media-related legislation, professional responsibilities, and emerging challenges within the modern digital communication environment.

The College of Law also presented a number of legal research papers focusing on key themes, including the legislative framework governing media practice, publication regulations, the limits of freedom of expression, and the professional responsibility of media institutions. These papers enriched the discussions and provided an in-depth legal perspective that supported the conference themes and enhanced the richness of academic dialogue.

The Dean of the College of Law, Professor Dr. Ali Hadi Atiya, affirmed that this participation comes within the college’s vision of strengthening integration between academic disciplines, consolidating legal awareness within the media sphere, and supporting scientific events that contribute to the development of knowledge and the service of society.

Through its active participation, the College of Law – University of Baghdad continues to play its leading role in national and international academic forums, offering its legal expertise to support the development of legislative and media environments and to enhance scholarly dialogue between law and media in a manner that serves the public interest.
