The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Law – University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled “Bank Rehabilitation” on Thursday, 20/11/2025, held at the College of Law building. The workshop was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Andalous Hamed Abd.
The workshop aimed to assess banks’ structures and policies in accordance with international and Arab requirements, in line with the Central Bank of Iraq’s guide for the detailed evaluation of the 2025 standards, with the objective of developing banking practices and enhancing the efficiency of financial services.
The workshop included discussions on several key themes, most notably:
1.Ownership and possession
2.Board governance
3.Liquidity and the deposit protection system
4.Customer service
5.Conflict of interest
At the conclusion of the workshop, several recommendations were issued, most notably:
1.Emphasizing the necessity of public-sector banks to support citizens and safeguard state rights through advanced administrative methods.
2.Implementing radical transformations in banking operations by relying on digital banking technologies and providing integrated services inside and outside Iraq.
3.Adopting proper rehabilitation standards and evaluating banking policies in a manner consistent with international and Arab requirements.
This workshop is part of a series of activities organized by the college aimed at enhancing legal and financial culture and developing the capacities of professionals working in banking institutions.
