The Legal Clinic and Restorative Justice Unit at the College of Law – University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Independent High Electoral Commission / National Office, organized an awareness seminar titled “Voting Procedures and Distribution of the Biometric Card” on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, in the college’s conference hall.

The session was chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Nada Abdul-Kadhim, while the seminar was delivered by Mr. Majid Saleh Mahdi, representing the Independent High Electoral Commission.

The seminar aimed to enhance electoral and legal awareness among students and the academic community by introducing the mechanism of biometric registration, the steps for distributing the electoral card, and explaining voting procedures on election day, as well as how to ensure active and informed participation in the electoral process.

The seminar also addressed the role of the Independent High Electoral Commission in safeguarding the integrity and transparency of elections and preventing any attempts at fraud or manipulation, thereby strengthening trust in the democratic process.

At the end of the seminar, the floor was opened for dialogue and discussion to answer attendees’ questions regarding the biometric update process and the mechanism for using the electoral card. Emphasis was placed on the idea that responsible and informed participation in elections represents a fundamental pillar for consolidating democracy and ensuring the peaceful transfer of power.
