Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Law – University of Baghdad, and under the supervision of the International Law , the preliminary rounds of the moot court for fourth-year students at the College of Law, University of Baghdad, were launched on Monday, October 27, 2025.
This year’s moot court addressed the topic “Citizenship and Conflict of Laws,” where students presented their legal arguments before a committee of specialized professors in a realistic simulation of litigation procedures, aimed at developing their skills in legal analysis and drafting defenses and pleadings.
The moot court was supervised by Mr. Mohamed Ismail Juma’a, the student teams’ training supervisor, while the panel of judges consisted of:
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Salem Abdul – Chair of the Committee and Head of the International Law Department,
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luma Abdul Baqi Mahmoud,
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nibras Ibrahim Muslim,
- Assist. Lecturer Hawraa Qasim Fanous.
The Dean emphasized that organizing this moot court is part of the college’s plan to enhance practical aspects of legal studies and enable students to apply theoretical concepts in a realistic simulated environment, contributing to preparing a competent legal generation equipped with skill and confidence in performance.
The preliminary rounds witnessed a positive competitive atmosphere among the participating fourth-year student teams, reflecting the scientific and professional preparation of the College of Law students and the college’s commitment to supporting practical activities that enhance the quality of legal education.
