The College of Law at the University of Baghdad discussed a PhD thesis in the private law branch of the student, Muhammad Owais Hassouni, titled (The legal system of the sports sponsorship contract – a comparative study), on Tuesday, 21/2/2023, in the conference hall in the college.

This thesis aims to conclude that the sports sponsorship contract, and that legal studies generally aim at trying to extrapolate the reality and the extent of the ability of legislation to keep up and keep pace with development, and we have noticed that despite the increasing importance of public care and sports in particular, it has not received adequate legal regulation from legislation in many countries, and Arab ones in particular.

The thesis also included three chapters, the first of which dealt with the nature of the sports sponsorship contract, the second chapter, the formation of the sports sponsorship contract, and the third chapter dealt with the provisions of the sports sponsorship contract.

The most important recommendations reached by the study, we recommend the Iraqi legislator to legislate a law for sports, similar to the French legislator and the Egyptian legislator, organizing among its folds all laws and regulations related to sports in general and sports sponsorship in particular, amending the provision of Article (3) of the Iraqi Professional Law No. 60 of 2017 and we suggest that it be drafted after the amendment As follows: (revenues of sports sponsorship contracts), and the aforementioned provision applies to all forms of sports sponsorship, the need to organize the stage preceding the contract and not neglect it, as the Iraqi civil legislation, like most other civil legislation, focuses on the stage following the conclusion of the contract, so the legal aspects of the negotiation stage should be regulated as a stage Standard in sports sponsorship contract.
