As part of the upcoming scientific conference organized by the College of Law – University of Baghdad, titled:
“The Crime of Genocide and the Pursuit of International Justice: Documentation and Accountability – The Crimes of ISIS Terrorist Gangs Against the Yazidi Community as a Model,”
the international Law held on October 20, 2025, a scientific activity represented by organizing an international mock trial simulating the filing of a case before the International Criminal Court regarding the crimes committed by ISIS terrorist groups against the Yazidi community.
The event aimed to reinforce legal concepts related to international accountability for grave crimes and to train students in international advocacy mechanisms and litigation procedures before international criminal courts.
Postgraduate and undergraduate students participated in the activity as advocates, taking on the roles of the prosecution, defense, and the judicial panel, under the supervision of a group of distinguished professors from the International Law, in a realistic simulation of judicial proceedings before the ICC.
This initiative comes within the framework of the College of Law – University of Baghdad’s efforts to enhance the practical and applied aspects of studying international law, and to develop students’ skills in the fields of criminal justice and human rights, in line with modern developments in the domain of international judiciary.
