Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Law at the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Ali Hadi Atiyah, the Public Law, in cooperation with the Council of Representatives, organized a panel discussion entitled: “The Role of Public Law Studies in Enhancing Parliamentary Work – A Future Vision”, on the morning of Monday, September 29, 2025, in the college’s conference hall.

The seminar was attended by a number of advisors from the Council of Representatives, professors specializing in constitutional and administrative law, representatives from the European Institute for Dialogue and Development, in addition to a gathering of academics and postgraduate students.

The seminar aimed to discuss the role of public law studies in the development of parliamentary work, addressing the legislative and oversight aspects that constitute fundamental pillars for enhancing parliamentary performance, as well as exploring future prospects for activating the role of academic institutions in supporting the legislative authority.

The program included an opening speech by the Dean of the College, followed by specialized research presented by the participating professors and postgraduate students, discussing a range of issues related to parliamentary mechanisms and ways to enhance parliamentary performance through the application of legal academic expertise.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the participants praised the scientific and organizational efforts of the College of Law, emphasizing the importance of continuing such joint activities that strengthen the partnership between the university and the Council of Representatives, serving the development of the Iraqi state and reinforcing the principles of good governance.
