A lecturer in the Criminal Law Branch at the College of Law / University of Baghdad, Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Nasser Hussein, participated in the symposium organized by the Hands of Human Mercy Association on the legislation of the Protection from Domestic Violence Law, which was held at the Iraqi Bar Association on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
The draft law was discussed in the presence of professors from faculties of law, professors of sociology, representatives of some relevant ministries, lawyers and civil society organizations.
The symposium aims to legislate a law to protect from and reduce domestic violence and create a society free of violence.
The most important recommendations of the symposium were to amend the draft law in accordance with the Iraqi society and its legislation, and to establish shelters for battered women.
At the end of the seminar, certificates of thanks and appreciation were distributed to the participants.
