College of Law – University of Baghdad Secures a Spot in the Finals of the 2025 Arab Human Rights Moot Court Competition

In a new academic achievement added to the distinguished record of the College of Law at the University of Baghdad, the college’s team has qualified for the final round of the first edition of the Arab Human Rights Moot Court Competition – 2025, organized by the United Nations Centre for Training and Documentation in Human Rights for South-West Asia and the Arab Region, scheduled to be held in Doha, Qatar, in October.

The team was represented by a group of female students from the college:

  • Rania Ihsan Abdul Latif
  • Noor Al-Huda Firas Hassoun
  • Rawan Bashar Hatim
  • Sally Firas Maad

The team was trained and supervised by Dr. Nibras Ibrahim Muslim, who oversaw the preparation and submission of the written memorials for both the Prosecution and Defense teams in the mock case provided by the UN Centre. The team’s work was evaluated by a panel of international experts and judges specialized in human rights, ultimately leading to their qualification for the final stage of the competition.

The College’s participation was organized through the Department of International Law, with direct support from the Dean, Professor Dr. Ali Hadi Al-Hilali, who emphasized that this accomplishment reflects the leading role of the college both regionally and internationally. He also highlighted the college’s ongoing commitment to engaging its students in high-level academic forums and specialized student competitions.

Dean Al-Hilali further noted that this participation represents a significant step in enhancing students’ practical legal skills through simulated court experiences, contributing to the development of their legal capabilities and academic knowledge, and preparing them to confidently enter the legal job market after graduation.

In this context, the college continues to support its qualified team through intensive training programs, including workshops and additional moot court simulations on human rights issues. The team is also being provided with a comprehensive academic environment under the guidance of specialized professors and international experts to ensure the highest level of readiness for the finals.

The college reaffirms its continued commitment to empowering its students and showcasing their potential in academic and professional arenas both nationally and internationally.
