Workshop at the College of Law – University of Baghdad on “How to Write a Statement of Claim”

On Sunday, May 11, 2025, the Career Development and Employment Unit at the College of Law – University of Baghdad organized a workshop titled “How to Write a Statement of Claim”, presented by Lecturer Mohammed Ismail Jumaa, a college member in the International Law.

The workshop aimed to introduce students to the concept and legal importance of a statement of claim, highlighting the essential components that must be included. It also focused on training participants to analyze legal facts and formulate them correctly.

The workshop covered several key topics, including:

  1. Definition of a statement of claim and its legal significance.
  2. The formal and substantive conditions that must be met in a statement of claim.
  3. The basic steps involved in drafting a statement of claim.

At the conclusion of the workshop, several important recommendations were made, including:

  1. The necessity of adhering to the formal and substantive requirements when writing a statement of claim to avoid rejection or invalidation.
  2. The importance of consulting relevant laws and judicial regulations to ensure that the statement of claim aligns with current legal provisions.
