Under the Patronage of Professor Dr. Ali Hadi Atiyah, Dean of the college of Law – University of Baghdad: A Virtual International Symposium Explores the Role of Law colleges in Building a Prosperous Society

The Criminal Law at the college of Law, University of Baghdad, organized a virtual academic symposium titled “Toward Effective Partnership: Law Faculties and Their Role in Building a Prosperous Society.” The department hosted distinguished British academic Dr. Emma Roberts, Head of the Law Department at the University of Salford – Manchester, United Kingdom.

The symposium addressed various dimensions of the vital role law colleges play in supporting civic responsibility and enhancing civil engagement. Key topics included: higher education in the UK and its civic mission, clinical legal education, and cross-border engagement with global impact.

Dr. Roberts highlighted the University of Salford’s experience in developing comprehensive legal education and practices oriented toward the public good. She emphasized the importance of preparing students to become effective professionals and engaged citizens committed to serving their communities.

The symposium aimed to deepen awareness of the importance of legal education in driving positive change and reaffirmed that law faculties contribute to building a more just and interactive society by enhancing students’ legal competence and civic responsibility.
