The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Law – University of Baghdad organized a scientific workshop on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, titled “How to Utilize the College Library in Preparing Academic Research.”
The workshop was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Essam Adnan Hashem and held in the college’s Model Courtroom.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness of the academic library as a fundamental resource in scientific research and to train participants in the skills needed to search for relevant books and university theses. It also presented practical steps for systematically incorporating these sources into academic writing.

The workshop covered several main topics:

  1. The importance of scientific research in the lives of students and college.

  2. The difference between online information and academically verified resources available in the college library.

  3. How to choose a research topic that is suitable for study and investigation.

  4. Methods for using both paper and electronic catalogs to find appropriate sources.

The workshop concluded with several key recommendations, including:

  1. Using precise keywords and trying different search phrases to obtain a wider range of sources.

  2. Avoiding over-reliance on electronic sources, given the higher accuracy and reliability often found in books and university theses.

  3. Seeking assistance from library staff, who possess valuable experience in guiding researchers to the most suitable sources.

  4. Keeping a detailed record of all reviewed sources to avoid redundancy or forgetting key references during the writing process.
