On Thursday, April 24, 2025, the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit at the College of Law – University of Baghdad held a workshop titled “Advantages and Disadvantages of the Group Decision-Making Approach,” presented by Dr. Rabab Khalil Ibrahim at the college premises.
The workshop aimed to highlight the concept of group decision-making and its importance as a democratic approach in modern management, contributing to the development of the work environment and enhancing administrative performance.
The discussion covered the following key points:
- Definition of group decision-making in administrative contexts and its distinction from individual decision-making.
- Advantages of group decision-making, such as the diversity of perspectives and the promotion of transparency.
- Challenges associated with this method, including time consumption and difficulty in reaching consensus.
- Mechanisms to overcome these challenges and improve the effectiveness of collective decision-making.
The workshop concluded with several important recommendations, including:
- Promoting a culture of teamwork in administrative environments.
- Clearly defining roles and responsibilities within teams.
- Utilizing diverse viewpoints to reach more mature decisions.
- Adopting modern tools to support decision-making, such as electronic voting methods.
- Providing training to develop communication and negotiation skills within work teams.
