On the morning of Wednesday, April 23, 2025, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Law – University of Baghdad held an awareness session titled “Drugs: Causes of Addiction and Methods of Prevention.” The session was presented by Lecturer Rusul Khalid Ibrahim in the college building.

The event aimed to raise participants’ awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and its negative effects on individuals and society. It also focused on highlighting effective prevention strategies and empowering individuals to make informed decisions when facing pressures or negative influences that could lead to addiction.

The session covered two main topics:

  1. Causes of Drug Addiction
  2. Methods of Drug Prevention

The session concluded with several key recommendations, including:

  1. Promoting community awareness through campaigns in schools, universities, workplaces, and on social media platforms.
  2. Offering training courses on how to identify early signs of addiction.
  3. Providing healthy alternatives for youth by supporting sports, cultural, and recreational activities, as well as creating vocational training and employment programs for the unemployed.
  4. Offering psychological and professional support to those recovering from addiction.
  5. Supporting security efforts in combating drug trafficking and use.
