The Public Law at the College of Law – University of Baghdad Holds a Workshop Entitled “Guide to Thesis and Dissertation Writing for Postgraduate Students”

On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, the Public Law at the College of Law – University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled “Guide to Thesis and Dissertation Writing for Postgraduate Students.” The workshop was delivered by the Head of the Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Taghreed Mohammed Qaddouri, and was aimed at postgraduate students at the master’s and doctoral levels. The event took place at the premises of the College of Law.

The workshop aimed to introduce students to the official guide for thesis and dissertation writing issued by the University of Baghdad. The guide provides scientific and methodological instructions designed to assist students in preparing their academic research in accordance with rigorous standards, facilitating the writing process and ensuring compliance with approved academic regulations.

The workshop addressed the following key topics:

  1. Introduction to the thesis and dissertation writing guide.
  2. Formal requirements for academic theses and dissertations.
  3. The importance of formal requirements and the necessity of adherence.
  4. Substantive principles in thesis and dissertation writing.
  5. The significance of substantive principles in master’s theses and doctoral dissertations.

The workshop concluded with several recommendations, the most prominent of which were:

  1. Emphasizing the need to train postgraduate students on adhering to formal academic writing standards by organizing ongoing workshops and training sessions.
  2. Incorporating a dedicated academic subject within the curriculum that covers the fundamentals of thesis and dissertation writing, including the introduction to the officially adopted guide by the University.
