A scientific workshop was held at the college of Law, University of Baghdad, titled “Environmental Performance and Zero Emissions – The Paris Agreement” on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in the Leadership Hall of the college. The workshop was attended by college members, staff, as well as undergraduate and graduate students.

The workshop, presented by Dr. Mustafa Salem Abd, Head of the International Law Department, and Lecturer Tabarak Mahmoud Shukr, covered several important topics, most notably the Paris Climate Agreement, environmental performance, zero waste, and zero emissions. The aim of the workshop was to shed light on the key provisions of the Paris Agreement and the most important net-zero projects in addressing climate change and desertification, as environmental issues pose significant contemporary global challenges.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the speakers recommended the need to spread environmental awareness and enhance the focus on sustainable development goals through the increase of practical workshops on environmental performance and climate change. They also emphasized the importance of investing in renewable energy and improving energy efficiency. Additionally, they highlighted the importance of planting trees to enhance vegetation cover, as it is a natural source for absorbing carbon dioxide.
