The Qualification and Employment Unit at the College of Law – University of Baghdad organized a workshop titled “How to Search for Research Sources through the Internet” on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. The workshop was presented by Lecturer Asst.lect. Ola Mohammed Basal.

The aim of the workshop was to enable participants to develop academic research skills and enhance their ability to evaluate, manage, and accurately document scientific sources. It also highlighted strategies for avoiding plagiarism through plagiarism detection tools. The workshop included strategies for legally accessing paid research, ensuring compliance with academic standards.

The workshop covered several topics, including:

  1. The importance of academic research in developing legal knowledge.
  2. Advanced search techniques in scientific databases.
  3. Criteria for evaluating academic sources and their reliability.
  4. Managing references using specialized software.
  5. Legal ways to access paid research.
  6. Mechanisms for detecting plagiarism and avoiding academic dishonesty.

The workshop concluded with several recommendations, including:

  1. Diversifying academic search engines to ensure access to reliable sources.
  2. Verifying the credibility of scientific sources before relying on them in research.
  3. Using artificial intelligence to analyse and summarize research papers.
  4. Organizing references using specialized software like Zotero and Mendeley.
  5. Documenting sources according to approved academic standards.
  6. Avoiding academic dishonesty through proper citation and using plagiarism detection tools.
