The Rehabilitation and Employment Unit at the College of Law, University of Baghdad, organized an educational workshop titled “Introducing Students to the Culture of Mental Health and the Societal Risks of Negative Phenomena They Face” on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the college building. The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturer Haneen Saleh Farouh.
The workshop aimed to introduce students to the culture of mental health and the societal risks associated with the negative phenomena they encounter, as well as to raise awareness on how to deal with these challenges in healthy and positive ways. It also sought to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to mitigate the negative impacts of these phenomena, contributing to the creation of a more stable academic and social environment that supports mental health.
The workshop included several key topics, such as:
- The concept of mental health and its importance in daily life.
- Societal risks resulting from negative phenomena and their effects on individuals.
- Prevention mechanisms and effective ways to cope with psychological pressures.
- The role of educational institutions and society in promoting students’ mental health.
The workshop concluded with several important recommendations, including:
- Enhancing awareness of mental health and societal risks through awareness campaigns at universities.
- Providing mental health support services in educational institutions, including counselling for students.
- Encouraging the role of families in educating children about mental health and how to cope with stress.
- Combatting cyberbullying and school bullying through clear policies at universities.
- Organizing workshops and awareness programs to reduce risky behaviors among students.
- Promoting positive activities such as sports, hobbies, and participation in community events to enhance mental health.
