The College of Law at the University of Baghdad organized a scientific seminar on March 2, 2025, titled “Legal Aid,” presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Nada Abdul-Kadhim Hussein, as part of the scientific affairs activities at the college.
The seminar discussed the Iraqi Legal Aid Law in force, its importance in achieving legal empowerment for vulnerable groups, with a focus on the pivotal role of lawyers in realizing the objectives of this law. It also emphasized the promotion of a culture of volunteer work in the legal field and the reinforcement of the humanitarian aspect in the profession of law.
The seminar concluded with several recommendations, most notably the need to intensify efforts to raise awareness about the Legal Aid Law and the groups covered by it, as well as encouraging law students and lawyers to engage in legal volunteer work, in recognition of the professional responsibility they bear in implementing this law.
