The seminar was presented by Asst.lect. Masooma Hamid Abdulrahman, with the aim of raising awareness about the dangers of cyber extortion and its connection to the worsening drug problem.

The seminar covered several topics, including the definition and causes of cyber extortion, as well as the position of the Iraqi legislator regarding this crime and how to combat it. It also highlighted the strong relationship between cyber extortion and drug use, noting that some addicts may resort to extortion to obtain the money necessary to continue their drug use.

At the end of the seminar, several recommendations were made, including the need to encourage victims to report incidents without fear, and the necessity for community awareness to complement strict laws and modern technology in combating this phenomenon. The seminar emphasized the importance of enhancing digital literacy and cybersecurity, as well as providing psychological and legal support to victims in order to reduce the spread of drug use linked to cyber extortion.”
