“The Unit for Psychological Counselling and Educational Guidance at the college of Law organized a seminar on February 23, 2025, titled ‘Volunteer Work and Its Role in Achieving the Principle of Access to Justice.’ The seminar discussed the importance of volunteer work in serving society and its role in promoting social justice based on the principles of the Quran, the Sunnah, and international conventions. It also highlighted the responsibility of each individual within their field to provide legal assistance and support to vulnerable groups in society.
The seminar was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Nada Abdul-Kadhim Hussein, a lecturer in the Private Law, and targeted the college’s students at various academic levels, with a focus on the importance of spreading the culture of volunteer work through practical means that effectively deliver services to those in need.
The seminar concluded with several important recommendations, the most prominent of which were:
- Enhancing the culture of volunteer work and raising awareness of its importance, along with providing rewards for those involved.
- Leveraging the expertise of international organizations and their experiences in training students on human rights.
- Providing necessary facilities to support volunteer activities, including financial support.
- Allocating one hour per week for community service campaigns that professors, staff, and students are required to participate in.
These recommendations aim to establish a culture of giving and social responsibility among students and motivate them to participate in volunteer work, contributing to achieving social justice and supporting the most vulnerable groups.”
