“Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Law, Professor Dr. Ali Hadi Atiya, and under the supervision of the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Students, Professor Dr. Jalil Hassan Bashat, the Continuing Education Unit at the college of Law, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop titled ‘Crisis and Risk Management: Concept, Causes, and Characteristics of the Crisis Team,’ on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 1:00 PM, in the Leadership Hall at the college.
The workshop was presented by the lecturer, Assistant lecturer Tabrak Mahmoud Shakir, and aimed to highlight the types of crises throughout history, with a focus on modern crises like the COVID-19 pandemic, and the importance of benefiting from past experiences in dealing with future crises. The workshop also discussed the concept of a crisis and its management, the causes of crises, and the crucial role that the crisis team plays in containing and effectively managing crises.
The workshop included several main topics, most notably:
- The concept of crisis and risk.
- Crisis management.
- Causes of crises.
- Characteristics of the crisis team.
At the conclusion, the workshop resulted in a number of important recommendations, the most prominent of which were increasing practical workshops related to crisis and risk management, in addition to establishing specialized crisis management teams and training them on mechanisms for dealing with potential emergencies.”
