The University of Baghdad College of Law team has achieved a remarkable milestone by qualifying for the semi-finals of the Asia-Pacific International Commercial Arbitration Competition, organized by the Borneo International Centre for Arbitration and Mediation. The final rounds of the competition are set to take place in Malaysia, where the team will continue to represent Iraq in this prestigious international legal contest.

The team participated in the preliminary rounds in English, demonstrating exceptional advocacy and analytical skills in international commercial arbitration. They competed against teams from China, India, and Sri Lanka, delivering strong oral pleadings and legal arguments before arbitration panels.

The Team’s Progress in the Competition:
1. February 15, 2025 – University of Baghdad (Respondent) vs. Peking University, China.
2. February 16, 2025 – University of Baghdad (Claimant) vs. Himachal Pradesh National Law University, India.
3. February 17, 2025 – University of Baghdad (Claimant) vs. Asia-Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT), Sri Lanka.
4. February 18, 2025 – University of Baghdad (Respondent) vs. East China University of Political Science and Law, China.
