The College of Law at the University of Baghdad had the honor of hosting the grand celebration organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in commemoration of Iraqi Legislation Day, which was established by the Cabinet to celebrate the work of Iraqi legal legislators.
The event, which took place in the college’s conference hall, featured various activities, beginning with verses from the Holy Quran and the recitation of Al-Fatiha for the souls of Iraq’s martyrs. Following that, Dr. Adnan Ibrahim Al-Jumaily, the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Administrative Affairs, delivered a speech on behalf of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi. This was followed by a short film documenting the history of the College of Law, highlighting key milestones and the development of education and curricula there, as well as showcasing notable alumni.
During the celebration, several prominent legal figures were honored with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their significant contributions to enriching the Iraqi legislative system, keeping pace with progress, organizing state institutions, and safeguarding citizens’ rights.
The event concluded with a tour of the College of Law’s Museum, which houses old documents, photographs that chronicle the college’s history, as well as various awards and trophies the college has received.
It is worth noting that Iraqi Legislation Day, which falls on January 15th each year, was officially established based on Cabinet Resolution No. 23505 in 2023.
