The private law at the College of Law, University of Baghdad, held a scientific seminar entitled (civil protection for victims of human trafficking), delivered by the lecturer at the private law (Dr. Nada Abdul Kadhim Hussein), and in the presence of the teaching staff and students at the College, on Sunday 24/11/2024 to the model courtroom at the College.

The seminar aimed to identify the most important challenges facing the legal position of dealing with trafficked person, is the overlap of human trafficking crimes with other crimes stipulated by other criminal laws such as the prostitution law No .8 for  year 1988 , as stipulated in Article 4 of it ( a prostitute whose use of prostitution is proven is punished by filing one of the reform houses designed to guide and rehabilitate women for a period of not less than three months and not more than two years).

The seminar came up with several recommendations, the most important of which is the need to emphasize in taking what is necessary at the level of legislation, implementation or application of the legislation in force to provide adequate civil protection to secure the life and safety of victims of human trafficking, and to make amendments with regard to laws affecting the rights of vulnerable groups to ensure protection for them, especially women and children, such as the Personal Status Law and the Prohibition of underage marriage, and the labor law to prevent the exploitation of bail in employment and forced labor.
