The psychological counseling and educational guidance unit at the College of Law, University of Baghdad, held a seminar entitled (Digital Drugs), delivered by the head of the unit, lecturer in the Criminal Law (Asst.lect. Zeinab rizouki Shamakh), and in the presence of students of the first stage, on Sunday 24/11/202 in the building of the College of law.

The seminar aimed at introducing people to the concept of digital drugs and how they affect the brain and psyche, especially young age groups, reviewing studies and research related to digital drugs to understand the mechanisms of their impact and the possibility of addiction to them and spreading awareness about the safe use of technology and the internet to avoid falling into the trap of this phenomenon.

At the end of the seminar, a set of recommendations was presented aimed at countering the phenomenon and reducing its negative impact on society. The most prominent of these recommendations are:

1. Community awareness: launching awareness campaigns through the media and digital platforms to educate individuals about digital drugs and their harms, organizing workshops and lectures in schools and universities to familiarize young people with this phenomenon.

2. Legislation and regulation: establish strict laws to monitor and block websites or applications that promote digital drugs, cooperate with international bodies to reduce the spread of this phenomenon via the internet.

3. Digital education: promoting digital culture among young people and families to avoid the wrong use of technology, providing training programs on how to use the internet safely.

4. Strengthening the role of the family: encouraging parents to monitor their children’s use of technology and instructing them on appropriate content, raising family awareness of the importance of open dialogue with children about the dangers of digital drugs.
