The unit of the legal clinic and restorative justice at the college of law of the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Independent Electoral Commission/ National Office, held an awareness-raising scientific seminar on the election law in force, biometric registration procedures and the mechanism for distributing biometric cards, in the presence of a number of professors, staff and students of the College, on Monday, 11/11/2024 to the martyr Hall at the college .
The seminar was directed by the lecturer in the private law and the head of the legal clinic unit (Dr. Nada Abdul Kadhim) and delivered by Mr. Karar Jalal Karim and Mr. Salam Enaya Hassan.
They touched upon the biometric registration and biometric card procedures followed by The Independent High Electoral Commission and motivating people to issue voter cards and actively participate in the electoral process in accordance with due process to serve our country and contribute to the success of the electoral process.
The seminar concluded that a mobile team should be formed by the commission to organize a visit to the college of law and its work will continue for a week for the purpose of updating and issuing voter cards for those who do not have a voter card for all college employees and students, preparing a scientific study by the legal clinic unit with the participation of specialized professors and Legal Clinic students in the initial and higher studies on election law and identifying gaps in the law and submitting it to the commission through holding a discussion session determined by the legal clinic unit after completion of the study and in cooperation with the Independent High Electoral Commission in the college building .
At the end of the seminar, there were interventions and inquiries by students about the mechanisms used to register and update the voter’s biometric card.
