The psychological counseling and educational guidance unit at the college of Law, University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the High Commission for Human Rights, held a seminar entitled (Combating Drugs in educational institutions), delivered by Akram Akla Daoud, director of the publishing and education department at the national office, and Kholoud Lotfi al-Bayati, trainer in publishing and education, Baghdad office, on Sunday, 20/10/2024 at the college of Law Building.
The seminar aimed at raising awareness and educating about the dangers of drug abuse in educational institutions and its prevention.
The seminar included several topics, including the definition of the work and tasks of the High Commission for Human Rights in accordance with the amended law no.53 for the year 2008, the definition of drugs according to the United Nations Office on drugs, the definition of addiction, the causes of the aggravation and increase of drug crime.
The seminar came up with several recommendations, the most important of which are activating the regulatory aspect and the laws that criminalize this crime, which has become the disintegration of the societal fabric, continuing awareness programs and positive education to combat drug crime, consolidating institutional and community efforts to confront this dangerous scourge, activating the role of educational and educational institutions, raising students ‘ awareness and working to build bridges between students and educational staff to solve psychological and social problems for them.
